On Monday morning a guard alerted our Emergency Control Centre of a suspect that had entered a residential premises, behind the business premises he is guarding, in the Lyttelton area. The guard kept visual on the suspect while our reaction members reacted swiftly. Upon arrival our members were shown the location of the suspect. The residents were also aware of the suspect, as he was trying to gain access at a window.
Our reaction members surrounded the suspect and managed to detain him. Fortunately the suspect did not succeed to cause any damage or steal anything.
Lyttelton SAPS arrested the suspect for trespassing and contravention of the COVID-19 Disaster Management Regulation.
Well done to all members – but a special thanks and well done to the alert and vigilant guard! We might have different insignias but we have one common goal…. PUBLIC SAFETY!!!
Thank you Lyttelton SAPS for the quick assistance on scene.
