One of the most touching moments of 2025 was witnessing the streets of Lyttelton come alive in support of 11-year-old Eben Beukes. After being left bedridden due to a rare autoimmune disease, Eben was welcomed home with a heartfelt show of support that turned an ordinary Friday into something truly unforgettable.
The outpouring of encouragement from residents, local organizations, and community members reflected the strength and compassion within Centurion. Moments like these remind us that community safety is not only about protection — it’s also about standing together, lifting one another up, and showing up when it matters most.
Eben sadly passed away on 24 August 2025, but he will never be forgotten. He will live in our hearts forever, and that special Friday is a very fond memory that will never fade away.
