On Wednesday, 28 January 2026, Centurion security teams received a lookout for a white Audi linked to an attempted hijacking in the Doringkloof area.
Members responded immediately, and through the use of advanced surveillance and tracking technologies, the suspect vehicle was identified as potentially being in the Midrand area. A coordinated search was launched, during which the vehicle was positively spotted. This led to a high-speed pursuit from Midrand towards the Rabie Ridge area.
During the pursuit, the suspects lost control of the vehicle and crashed. The occupants fled the scene on foot in multiple directions. Despite an extensive and prolonged search conducted by multiple security companies and law enforcement agencies, no arrests were made at the time.
Further investigation confirmed that the vehicle used in the incident had been hijacked earlier this month and was already wanted by SAPS. The victim’s cellphone, which had been taken during the incident, was successfully recovered and safely returned.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to every member and agency who responded and assisted on scene. This incident once again highlights the importance of collaboration, rapid response, and real teamwork in keeping our communities safe.
