An armed robbery in Lyttelton, Centurion, led to a high-speed chase and the swift apprehension of suspects on Friday. Authorities received information about a group of suspects targeting retail stores in the Centurion area. A lookout was issued for a silver Haval H1 shortly after a business robbery was reported.

The suspect vehicle was spotted traveling along Weirda Road towards the R55, where law enforcement members immediately mobilised. One of the members followed the vehicle while calling for backup. Upon realising they were being pursued, the suspects attempted to evade arrest, opening fire on responding members. Officers returned fire, fatally wounding one suspect and injuring two others. The injured suspects were transported to hospital for medical attention, while two additional suspects were successfully apprehended.

All necessary role players were on scene. The vehicle, along with recovered goods, was processed by the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) and handed over to the relevant VCIU and SAP13 sections for further investigation.
